Tim Ferriss interviewed by Michael Port about Geek To Freak and the 4HB

Tim Ferriss interviewed by Michael Port about Geek To Freak and the 4HB
I found this interview with Tim Ferriss where he talks about The Four Hour Body and turning from Geek To Freak. On a side note, Tim talks about the affilate links for the supplements recommended in the book, the proceeds of which go to charity. Tim also used to own a supplement store, which he sold in order to prevent critics slagging off his data and results as a ploy for supplement sales. The Geek To Freak interview is in two parts. Geek To Freak Part One Geek To Freak Part Two Tim discusses the criticism of The Four Hour Body and how it was received by the Gym Community, especially...

What is The Four Hour Body Geek To Freak?

What is The Four Hour Body Geek To Freak?
The Four Hour Body is a book written by Tim Ferriss, of The Four Hour Work week fame. Tim is an expert in condensing down the things that actually make a difference to work, play or in this case getting a better body. Based on the Pareto 80/20 rule, Tim’s quest was to find the 20% of things that make 80% of the difference in losing weight and building a better posterior. Tim condensed the Pareto rule down even further to find the 2.5% of things which constitute the Minimum Effective Dose. It turns out that all of this can be accomplished in just 4 hours a month. Tim’s methods...

Who else is doing the Four Hour Body Kettlebell Swing?

Who else is doing the Four Hour Body Kettlebell Swing?
Who else is doing the Four Hour Body Kettlebell Swing? My 20kg kettlebell arrived this week. I kept hoping that my gym would order a set of kettlebells but they never did. What is your experience of kettlebells? It looks like kettlebells have been sweeping across the US for a decade or so, but over here in the UK, they are pretty rare. Having said that they are pretty easy to pick up on eBay or from Argos. I then found out that kettlebells are big with Russians but also with Scots. Apparently Scots used to train with small church bells.Maybe we wil be kaber tossing next. I followed Tim...

I have lost 2 inches and gained another 2

I have lost 2 inches and gained another 2
This weeks Four Hour Body Last Mile has been a drag. This mile is going on forever. However, the good news is that I have lost 1/2 inch from my hips and 1 1/2 inches from my chest. I am really pleased about this since my chest and waist are the ones where body fat is now sitting. There is very little body fat anywhere else. I have also GAINED two inches on my biceps, so I am really pleased about that. Last weke in the gym I re started my ARM program, so it is really good news to see some results. My arms were actually this size a few weeks ago, so they have probably bounced back with...

I have lost another inch with The Four Hour Body Last Mile
Yeh! The Four Hour Body Last Mile diet is definitely working as I have lost a whole inch from my waist in just five days. My Total body Inches are now 328.5 down from a starting TBI of 337.25 The Last Mile diet is really hard. It takes a lot more organisation and will power than anything I have done before. This week I have concentrated on doing everything perfectly. That is :- eating on time weighing my food to get the exact number of cooked grams drinking water religiously cycling for 20 minutes at less than 120bpm with each workout including more greens (like Spring Greens cooked in...

Tips For Getting Geek To Freak Abs

Tips For Getting Geek To Freak Abs
I have been developing my six pack by doing the Myotatic Crunch exercise on a Bosu ball for several weeks now. I can definitely feel my abs getting stronger. It also takes a couple of days to recover. But what else can you do to ensure you get that elusive six pack (or two pack or four pack)? I found these tips from BigRob on 4HBtalk. 1. Abs are not going to show for many people until they are 7-9% body fat. 2. There are two major categories of abs “Deep Carves”, that look like a pan of dinner rolls and “Tiles” that look like, well kitchen tiles. You can get Deep Carves by doing...

Slow Carb Diet – Day 24 – Four Hour Body

Slow Carb Diet – Day 24 – Four Hour Body
I am now coming to the end of my personal thirty day challenge to complete the Four Hour Body diet. I did this slightly unconventionally, as I went on holiday in week three and didn’t complete the Four Hour Body. I restarted the Slow Carb Diet from the beginning and have now completed 24 days. Last week I decided to switch to The Last Mile as I wasn’t really seeing any great results. How did the Last Mile Go? Well really well actually. The switch to The Last Mile has produced good results. In terms of Total Body Weight my starting weight was 172 lbs and my current weight...

Slow Carb Diet – End Of Week 3 Four Hour Body

Slow Carb Diet – End Of Week 3 Four Hour Body
Well, now I am at the end of week 3 of the Four Hour Body (again). The first time I was at the end of week 3 I was in Tokyo. Thank God that I am not there this time, since the earth quake and Tsunami which happened yesterday (11 March 2011). My thoughts and condolences go out to all Japanese people affected by these events. I havenever been to a country in which I have felt so safe and so welcome. The people we met were extremely friendly and helpful. People even approached us and helped us with the trains. After Tokyo, the Slow Carb Diet all went downhill, in Australia, so I rebooted and...
